🎨 Introducing Adventures In Colour

Hi Reader,

Today I'm excited to invite you on a brand new watercolour journey - Adventures in Colour.

Some of my favourite lessons are here, forming a gentle journey through colour, landscapes, buildings, light and atmosphere.

It's fun and relaxing, full of colour and vibrancy. Just how watercolour should be!

The journey:

Adventures in Colour has four structured pathways - each one a mini-course focused on a specific world of watercolour. Each pathway contains 6 deep-dive lessons that build your skills from the ground up.

They are all on my Patreon.

Choose your pathway:

1. Jump Right In! Perfect if you’re just starting or need a refresh. Some of my favourite fundamentals and easy projects are in this pathway. At the end we put it all together in a painting I know you're going to be proud of.

2. The Living Landscape. Gain confidence in painting trees and forests that are vibrant, loose and free, and truly bring your landscapes to life. Some of my most popular skills lessons are in this pathway.

3. Travelling Through Time. Capture the charm of history. We’ll explore how to paint stone, weathered wood, and rustic architecture. There are some beautiful paintings in this pathway.

4. Light, Mood, and Atmosphere. For those ready to push their boundaries and take their landscapes from meh to amazing! Learn the secrets to creating paintings that truly glow.

Adventures in Colour includes:

  • 24 deep-dive video lessons (6 per pathway)
  • Reference photos to paint from
  • Traceable drawings (so you can skip the "worrying about drawing" part!)
  • An invite to our private community to share your work and ask questions

Your Patreon subscription gives you full access to all four pathways and every lesson inside them.

Join me for a watercolour adventure.

Warmly,
Renee

P.S.
Due to a recent cancellation, I now have 3 rooms newly available for our upcoming art retreat in France in May!

We will spend 10 days sketching architecture, enjoying local markets, and painting our "Adventures in Colour" in person. If you've been waiting for a sign to join us, this is it.

P.P.S.
If you know of someone who would enjoy this newsletter, then please forward it on. Thank you!

Helping others capture their memories in colour is one of the greatest joys of my artistic journey. On watercolour art retreats and in workshops I've watched people grow braver, laugh louder, make friends, and fill pages with art they never thought possible. I'm right there alongside them β€” and it's magic.

Hi Reader, I just got home from my 5th retreat in France, and I'm already thinking about next year. That's the thing about this place. You leave and immediately start planning how to get back :-) I'm returning to Perigord Retreats in June 2027 β€” and bookings are open now. The Dordogne in late June is extraordinary. Medieval castles reflected in slow rivers. Honey-stone villages where the light turns gold in the afternoon. Rocamadour clinging to its cliff face. Markets spilling colour into...

Hi Reader, Imagine waking up in a 16th-century monastery and spending your days painting hilltop villages, sweeping landscapes and sun-drenched piazzas. At La Romita School of Art, that's exactly what we'll do. I'm inviting you to join me in Umbria for my retreat at La Romita β€” April 2027. Artists have gathered here for 60 years, drawn by the light, the landscapes, and something harder to name β€” the feeling of being completely absorbed in a place. This is a watercolour sketching retreat, and...

Hi Reader, I'm just back from South Africa β€” a catch up with family, and climbing and camping to some of our favourite places. South Africa is where I grew up, and it really wakes up my soul: the colours feel more 'me', there's texture and pattern everywhere, and the creative energy of all the different cultures mixed together. I sketched the whole trip in leporellos (accordion sketchbooks) for the very first time, and it's been such a fun, new way to think about composition and storytelling...
